How to register a free subdomain or create a subdomain of your domain?

Home » Knowledge Base » Control Panel » Domain Manager » How to register a free subdomain or create a subdomain of your domain?

In this tutorial, we are going to walk you through the process of registering a free subdomain name in your AwardSpace free web hosting account.

If you do not yet own a top-level domain and wish to test our service before getting one, you have the ability to build a web page on a free sub-domain.

We have implemented a Create a Free Subdomain feature that allows our customers to create and host a website on a free sub-domain name. Setting up a sub-domain is seamless, easy, and only takes a few seconds.

How Would I Go About Registering a Free Sub-Domain?

Registering a sub-domain name can be done in four steps:

  1. Log into the Control Panel of your AwardSpace account.
  2. Go to the Domain Manager page and select the Create a Free Subdomain tab.
  3. Enter your website’s name and choose a domain name from the drop-down list.
  4. Click on the Create button.

What Characters are Allowed in a Sub-Domain Name?

Sub-domain names can only contain numbers, letters, and hyphens (‐). Special characters and spaces must be omitted.

What Options Do I Have?

There are many options you can choose from. Below we’ve listed some of the domain names you’re able to register a sub-domain name with:

  • atwebpages.com
  • medianewsonline.com
  • myartsonline.com
  • mywebcommunity.org
  • onlinewebshop.net

I Already Own a Domain Name. Can I Create a Sub-Domain with It?

Setting up a sub-domain using an external domain is indeed possible. Before you are able to register such a name, you must first add your domain to your AwardSpace account.

Once you have done so, your domain name will appear in the drop-down menu list (as shown below).

How Many Sub-Domains am I Allowed to Create on my Server?

The number of sub-domains allowed would depend on the account type. Each hosting plan comes with different features and limitations, which can be seen here.

I’ve Registered a Free Sub-Domain. When will My Website Become Active?

After you register a sub-domain name in your AwardSpace account, your website will become active and fully reachable after a period of 1-2 hours.
