How to register a domain name?

Home » Knowledge Base » Control Panel » Domain Manager » How to register a domain name?

In this tutorial, we’re going to show you how to register a domain name on Awardspace.com.

Registering a domain name is a three-step process:

  1. Choosing a name for your website.
  2. Setting up a web hosting account.
  3. Placing a domain registration order.

Step #1: Picking a Domain Name

When choosing a domain/URL for your website, the name is the most important consideration. It is your URL that your visitors will first see when visiting your web page. So, make sure that you choose your name wisely!

How to check if my chosen domain is available for registration?

For your convenience, we’ve created a Domain Checker Tool that allows you to check the availability of your desired domain.

Our Domain Checker Tool is available at this link and is accessible via any device with a web browser.

To see if your domain is available for registration, type in your name in the Check domain name availability box and press Search.

If your selected name is already taken, you will see a message indicating that it can be transferred. In this situation, you should choose a different domain. If it is not, please proceed to the next step.

Step #2: Setting Up an Account

Why do I need an account?“, you would probably ask.

Having a web hosting account (server) is an essential part of every web application/project. Your server is the place where you can build and design your page, store your files and e-mail messages, and so on.

If you do not have a place for your website yet and are looking for one, you are more than welcome to review our website hosting page and choose a plan that best suits your needs.

Step #3: Registering a Domain

Registering a domain name can be done in two ways:

  • While ordering a web hosting plan

When ordering a shared hosting plan, you will be presented with the option to add a domain name to your hosting package.

Enter the domain name you’ve chosen and click on the Check availability & register button. Complete the registration process.

  • From within your Awardspace Control Panel

The second option is to obtain a domain name directly from your Awardspace Control Panel.

To register a name, log into the Hosting Control Panel of your Awardspace account and visit your Domain Manager page.

Type in your domain name in the Register a new Domain box and choose a domain extension (such as .com, .org, .co.uk) from the drop-down menu. Press Check Domain and finalize the registration process.
