How to create an email account?

Home » Knowledge Base » Control Panel » Email Manager » How to create an email account?

In this tutorial, we’re going to walk you through the process of setting up an email account (address) on your AwardSpace server.

What Types of Accounts Do You Offer?

There are three types of accounts that can be created in the Control Panel:

  • Email Address
  • Catch-all Address
  • Email Alias

You can read our article for more information on how to create a Catch-all email account here. If you are interested in creating an Email Alias you can read the article How to Create an Email Alias.

What is an Email Address and How to Set Up One?

An email account is the address of an electronic mailbox that can deliver and receive messages.

Creating an email account can be achieved by following the below steps:

  1. Sign in to your AwardSpace website hosting account.
  2. Visit the Email Accounts page.
  3. Select the Create E-mail Account tab.
  4. Fill in all the required fields (as shown below).
  5. Click Create.

Note: Before you’re able to create an e-mail account on your server, you must either register, transfer or host a domain in your AwardSpace web hosting account. Paid customers can also create e-mail accounts with sub-domain names.

Note: Free hosting account users cannot create an email address with a sub-domain name.

Note: Email addresses can only contain numbers (0-9), letters (a-z), underlines (_), hyphens (‐), and dots (.). Special characters and spaces must be omitted.

How Can I Change my Email Quota?

In order to configure a higher quota for an email account, click on your email address and open the Information menu.

Note: The maximum quota that can be set for an e-mail account on a paid server is 3GB (3000MB). On a Free web server, the limit is 50MB.

What Will Happen if I Delete my Email Address?

If you happen to delete a mailbox from the server, all the data associated with it (including its settings, filters, and aliases) will also be erased.

Note: We do not keep backups on our mail server, so please make sure you save your data before deleting an email account!
