Homepage

Home » Glossary » Homepage

In order for users to reach a website, there are two main ways. The first one is to load the website’s URL (Uniform Resource Locator), after opening the browser. The second one is through Google, after typing on the search console the name of the website. Then the first page that will be displayed is called the homepage of the website and it aims to introduce the site to the user.

What is a Homepage?

A homepage or home page is the main page of a website. This page acts as an introduction of the brand, product, or service. Through the home page, visitors can explore the website by hyperlinks that lead to other pages on the site.

An example of a homepage would be AwardSpace’s homepage.

What is the purpose of the homepage?

The homepage is designed to be the main entry of any website. This is why the page needs to make a good first impression and grab the visitor’s attention while encouraging them to keep exploring. This can be achieved by improving its content, the user experience, and the user interface of the home page.

The homepage makes reaching all the pages on the website easier as it acts as a navigation. By providing links to all web pages available on the site.

Depending on the goals and the type of the site, home pages can look different. Whether the website is a blog, e-commerce, education, portfolio, social media, or other site, they have a certain purpose.

For example, a media website might highlight the latest or the most interesting stories by listing the full article.

In digital marketing is very important to make a difference between a homepage and a landing page.

What are the differences between a homepage and a landing page?

The main difference between both pages is that a landing page is a standalone page while a homepage exists as a single page.

The landing page is designed for a specific campaign and has a call to action. This makes it more effective for marketing purposes than the homepage.

Meanwhile, a homepage is designed for exploration. As we mentioned earlier, the homepage has a lot of information and is focused on introducing the viewer to the website of the company.
